NATALIE AT WORK

INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM MA PROGRAM AT CRONKITE / GA FOR THE REYNOLDS BUSINESS BUREAU

Natalie is one of 18 students in the inaugural investigative MA program at the Cronkite School in Phoenix, Ariz. She is studying under some of the journalism "greats," such as Leonard Downie and Robby Robinson. The program is one-year and places a heavy focus on hands-on experience and multimedia elements.

She's also working as a GA for the Reynolds Business Bureau, where she writes articles for businessjournalism.org. The bureau hands out the annual Barlett & Steele investigative business journalism awards.

BUSINESS JOURNALISM

Natalie started out in New York in 2015 as an editorial intern for Business Insider where she wrote over 100 quick, catchy stories and slideshows. After six months, she was ready to hone her business journalism skills. She started as a breaking news reporter at TheStreet where she wrote 15 stories per day on timely business news. While this was a tough gig at first due to the high volume of articles, the job acted like a speed course for business school. After six months, she was promoted to a tech reporter. She was made the lead reporter on Alibaba and even interviewed Alibaba president Joe Tsai. She was also put in charge of an initiative to interview high-level executives for a series of print and video feature stories. Soon after, she was contacted by The Motley Fool, which hired her as a tech reporter.

CHEDDARTV APPEARANCES

While working as a tech reporter at TheStreet, Natalie was asked to appear on CheddarTV three times to provide analysis about breaking tech news. CheddarTV would typically reach out to Natalie when they saw one of her articles was trending online. Often, the amount of research she did for an IPO or Amazon Prime Day event couldn't fit into one article, so she enjoyed getting to share more background information with CheddarTV viewers.
